Bloom Ball
Bloom Ball is a playful, immersive celebration of becoming, belonging, and the wonderfully weird experience of being alive.
Fantasy meets ecology in an immersive garden adventure where bugs and flowers prepare for the party of the year.
Led by the irrepressible Fly, audiences wander through the botanical garden, eavesdropping on gossip, stumbling into secret encounters, and meeting an eclectic cast of creatures on the brink of transformation.
A flower sings her way through her full, operatic life cycle—from seed to bloom to death. A moth shapeshifts from goo into glam. A spider finds the courage to reveal his vulnerability through original hip hop and dance. A mantis queers classical philosophy while exploring gender and identity.
As the afternoon unfolds, what begins as a fantastical garden romp becomes something more intimate: a celebration of the strange, messy process of becoming. These creatures are changing, revealing themselves, falling for one another, competing, transforming, and figuring out how they belong. Beneath all their differences is a shared truth: we are part of something much bigger, stranger, and more interconnected than we realize.
At last, they gather for the Bloom Ball—a wild, shimmering celebration of everything they are and everything they are becoming. Crushes and rivalries collide, transformations are revealed, and the whole ecosystem comes together. The boundaries between flower and bug, performer and audience, self and other blur.
Bloom Ball invites us to revel in the beautiful, fleeting abundance of being alive—and to celebrate the strange, marvelous creatures we become together.
